March 12th, 2010 BULLETIN C DAY SATURDAY DETENTION IS THIS SATURDAY FROM 9:00-12:00 TODAY Class of 2012 will be selling brownie sundaes for $1.50 during all 3 lunches on TODAY. ATTENTION ALL CLUBS: If you have pictures from through-out this school year (09-10) and would like to submit them for the yearbook, please bring them to room 137 G period or see Kirsten Pickford in homeroom 208 TODAY. The POPS Concert is TONIGHT and Saturday at 7:30. Ticket prices are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and seniors. Table prices are $25.00 and seat 6. Show your support for the WHS Band! The Westfield Homeless Cat Project Club will be holding a collection drive from now until Mid-April. Items that are needed include canned and dry food for both, cats and kittens, disposable latex gloves, towels, blankets, bleach, and more. Drop off boxes will be located in the main office, career center, and in room 225. For a full list of items or more information, contact Ms. Watson. Donate an item, do a good deed, help a kitty in need. Westfield YMCA Cinderella Project is back again. We have dresses for high school girls and adults. Saturday from 11:00 to 4:00 and Sunday from 1:00-4:30. Dresses will range from $5.00 to $15.00. As SCHOOLS MATCH WITS will meet after school on Tuesday, March 16th. Tickets for the SADIE HAWKINS DANCE will go on sale beginning Tuesday, March 16th for $35.00. The dance will be held at East Mountain Country Club on April 16th. There will be a COPE meeting on Wednesday, March 17th after school in room 227. Topics are soup kitchen and Prom Extravaganza KNITTING CLUB will be meeting after school in the Career Center on Thursday, March 18th and 25th. All are welcome EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES CREATIVE KIDS PRE-SCHOOL on East Mountain Road, is in need of a teacher’s aide Monday thru Friday from 2:30-5:30. Must be at least 16 years old and have your own transportation. More information available in the Career Center. Babysitting position available after school and some week-ends. For more information please visit the Career Center. SPORTS Athletes trying out for Spring Sports must have a physical on file in the athletic office or bring one to try-outs. No physical = No tryout! If you are in doubt please check with the Athletic Office. BOYS TENNIS PRACTICE will be TODAY after school. Meet in room 117. There will be a meeting for all Girl Athletes Interested in Outdoor Track TODAY at 2:15 in room 117. There are still openings for throwers, jumpers, hurdlers and vaulters. Track offers something for everybody, so come check it out and be a part of a great team! MANDATORY GIRLS VARSITY TENNIS meeting in room 125 on Monday, March 15th. There will be a general interest meeting for any student interested in playing rugby. It will take place on Monday March 22nd in room 117 from 2:10 through 2:45. This meeting is open to both boys and girls. Winter Athletes please return your uniforms to your coaches. Uniform obligations will be issued next week. Athletes that do not return their uniforms will not be eligible for Spring Sport try-outs. On Friday, March 19th from 3:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday, March 20th from 9:00am-5:00pm, Cope and the Kinship Fund will sponsor a PROM GOWN EXTRAVAGANZA” in the Westfield High School cafeteria. This is a fundraiser for the Kinship Fund which assists students at Westfield High School who have had a premature separation from their family and wish to continue school, independent of their families. We are seeking donations of gently worn formal wear (all sizes) which we will accessorize and display for sale at VERY REASONABLE price. We are expecting to receive donations of many beautiful gowns, shoes, jewelry, bags, and wraps, etc. This is a sale open to the public. It will be advertised in local publications and we are putting out the welcome mat for anyone who would like to browse or buy. We will have dressing rooms and mirrors and a great staff of people working. To make this more fun for students at WHS the homeroom who donates the most dresses will receive a Mrs. Murphy’s Breakfast. Please call 10 friends, pick up the gowns and bring them to either Mrs. Fiordalice or Mrs. Tansey at WHS. For local pickup please call Mrs. Tansey at 572-6488.
