Since 1911, Westfield has recognized occupational education as an integral part of its public school system.  Its support of this valuable form of education is best exemplified by our modern vocational education facility which is well equipped and staffed by competent personnel.  Students prepare for careers that are common in modern industry, and which offer an abundance of job opportunities upon graduation.
The dynamic technological changes of recent years have resulted in tremendous social economic adjustments.  Programs have brought new and greater challenges for those who desire to continue occupational education as a distinct form of education.
Through its academic and technical programs, Westfield Vocational Technical High School focuses toward attaining the high standards and ideals that are expressed in both state and federal legislation.  Chapter 74, Section 2 of the Massachusetts General Laws defines vocational education as follows:

"...Education of which the primary purpose is to fit people for profitable employment.  This shall be in preparation for employment, or for advancement while employed."
