Title 1 is a federal aid program for schools. The goal of Title 1 is to ensure a high-quality education for every child, by providing extra help to students who need it most. Title 1 money is distributed to districts and individual schools based on the numbers of low-income families. Under Title 1, schools must:

Identify students most in need of educational assistance

Set goals for improvement

Measure student progress

Develop programs that add to the regular classroom program

Involve parents in the program
