Southampton Road Elementary
School
Library Media Center
Mission
The Southampton Road School Library Media Center strives to support the
curriculum by providing for the informational and research needs of staff
and students. We further seek to provide recreational reading material
at varied levels and to suit the particular tastes of the student population.
Schedule
Students visit the library as a class each week to select reading materials.
Research visits are scheduled on an as-needed basis, and may consist of
a full class or small groups. This fixed/flexible schedule allows us to
meet classrom needs when they occur, while maintaining a weekly presence
to promote reading.
The class schedule for the 2008-2009 school year

Overdue Policy
Students may borrow books for a period of one week. Books may be renewed
if they are brought to the library. Once a book has been overdue for one
month, borrowing privileges are suspended until the book is returned,
replaced, or paid for.
Special Project
The library is the beneficiary of a special fund-raising project. Adopt-a-Book supports the growth of our collection
in a uniquely personal way by encouraging donations to purchase books.
The books are then inscribed with the donor’s name and special message
to honor people or occasions.
