PARENT
INVOLVEMENT AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL IS
CRUCIAL
Moving from elementary
school to middle school is an adjustment for students and
parents alike. There are usually more teachers to know and
a more complicated schedule to understand. Kids can be embarrassed
about parent involvement, but these changes are not reason
for parents to stop working with the school. It is just
as important as ever for parents to stay involved.
-
Meet your child's
teachers and Guidance Counselor as soon as possible
instead of waiting until problems arise - attend Open
House,Parent-Teacher Conference Night or join P-TAC.
-
Read about
the school. At the beginning of the year, the school
hands out the Student Handbook and your child's Team
may send home a TEAM LETTER. Please ask for materials
if you didn't receive them.
-
Keep track
of your child's progress at school. If his/her grades
slip, contact your child's teachers for help. A midterm
progress report goes home with students at the mid-point
of every quarter. Please call teh school if you did
not see one.
Attend parent-teacher
conferences or request a Team meeting if you feel your
child is sllipping.
