Welcome to Mrs. Bovat's
Second Grade. This is an exciting year,full
of new learning experiences. It is my hope that this will be a positive
experience for both your child and you. Together I am sure we can make
this the best year yet.
Second grade builds on previous skills as well as
introducing new material. One of the most anticipated is our unit on
DINOSAURS. Please be sure to review work coming home on a daily basis to
keep you abreast of what we are learning. If there are any materials or
"extras" needed I will contact you.
Yes, we will have homework this year.
Assignments will be given on Tues. and Thurs. and are due back the next
day. All tasks are based on skills we have learned in class. Your child
should be able to do these with little or no help. Looking over these
papers is another way to keep up with what we are doing in class.
Along
with the Tues. and Thurs. assignments, the children are asked to read for
at least 15 min. per night. They will have a reading log to have you
initial to show that have have read. Studies show that daily reading is a
key to success in all areas.
It is my sincere hope that this is a most positive year for your
child. Please don't hesitate to contact me if your child is expressing
concerns. I'm sure that together we can develop a plan to ensure your
child's happiness and success.
