Principal's Welcome | Mission | Vision

Welcome to Juniper Park School !

The Juniper Park School, situated on the campus of Westfield State College, is committed to excellence in education. It is our mission to foster an atmosphere of mutual caring, respect and responsibility. Juniper Park will create independent and life - long learners. Every member of the school community will be a critical thinker, a cooperative learner and an academic risk - taker.
Each child will develop a strong foundation in listening, speaking, reading, writing and problem solving. It is our mission to enrich all students by providing opportunities that recognize the difference in students in terms of culture, language, ability and learning style.

We are proud of what we achieve at Juniper Park - in our classrooms, in our offices and in our studio - but our achievements are not due to complacency and satisfaction with the status quo. Our programs are what they are because of a dedicated staff that share a common goal - to do what is best for students - and are always looking for ways to achieve that goal.
Your interest, your involvement, your support, and your parental guidance have never been more important. Home and school must continue to be a cohesive team in educating our children to their fullest potential. As a team, we have the ability to give students the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential academically, while developing good citizenship skills necessary for rich and productive lives. As a unified family, we can help each individual child discover his or her own strengths and unique talents.
By working together with a shared understanding of our goals and expectations, we can create a solid foundation for each child and ensure a great opportunity for success. As building principal, I look forward to all of us working together to create an outstanding learning environment for our children.

Sincerely,
James P. Kane,
Principal

Juniper Park will create independent and life - long learners. Every member of the school community will be a critical thinker, a cooperative learner and an academic risk - taker. Vision

Juniper Park Elementary School will effectively provide a school climate of excellence, fostering a safe and caring environment, in which each member will work toward realization of his/her unlimited potential.
All students have an opportunity to participate and take "ownership" of their learning through active involvement. There is a special emphasis on students at risk including the language minority student.
We form classrooms and programs to support and improve student outcomes in preparation for citizenship and the world of work.
We regularly measure student achievement and academic progress by focusing on student outcomes through curriculum assessment, teacher and peer observations, standardized tests and portfolio assessment.

The teachers, the administration, and the support staff participate in professional development designed to enhance their subject knowledge, strengthen their teaching skills and build skills in shared decision - making.
Knowing that resources are limited, and the future of our children is a risk, we need the support of the families, the community and the state. We need to open the doors of ownership so that positive changes can take place.
