Welcome to Fourth Grade!!!

There will be many materials coming home for parents to read and sign. PLEASE return all necessary signatures forms and information as soon as possible. The top priority items are the two emergency cards. We must know how to reach you in case of an unexpected event.

Organization is a key skill toward becoming independent students. It is an important part of our classroom routine and there are a few items I would like every child to have.

  • #1 everyone will need a three ring binder (nothing fancy or huge) just a simple 1 _ - 2/inch binder. In this binder students will keep important materials and their assignment sheets. This binder will travel between home and school EVERYDAY.
  • #2 each child needs a STURDY (plastic is best) two pocket folder. Be sure it fits inside the binder. One side pocket will be labeled keep at home the other return to school
  • #3 I’d like everyone to have a small, simple pencil box. Please limit the number of pencils and erasers the children bring to class. Children love the razzle, dazzle but it is often very distracting to the learning environment. Those can be special tools for home!

I have purchased colored folders for our desk organization system as well as the notebooks everyone needs for their journal work and learning logs. I love the sales at Staples and have been shopping all summer!!!! Donations for classroom needed now and welcome all year!

  • Tissues, of course!
  • Cleaning wipes (great for quick desk tops & key board disinfecting)
  • Large bottles of hand sanitizer for all to use
  • magnetic tape
  • White board cleaning spray
  • odorless Expo Board markers

There will be more information heading your way soon regarding homework routines and other classroom procedures. Your children have already received their first homework assignment and it is due on Tuesday Sept. 8th. Please ask them to share the letter I wrote for more information about the homework! This assignment is intended to help me get to know more about the children. It is not a skills assessment. It should be fun and creative!

Each academic year is an adventure and 2009-2010 will be especially exciting as our school community grows and changes. The possibilities are endless and I am looking forward to getting to know your child and joining you in their educational journey!!!
