Abner Gibbs Elementary School Vision Statement:
Our teaching and learning is meaning based with an integrated curriculum
for critical thinking utilizing appropriate technology:
-
All students have an opportunity to participate
and take "ownership" of their learning through active
involvement. There is a special emphasis on students at risk including
the language minority student.
-
As a school, we create a school culture of excellence
that helps to build a caring, cohesive, and collaborative school
community.
-
We form classrooms and programs to support and
improve student outcomes in preparation for citizenship and the
world of work.
-
We build collaborative relationships with all
stake holders which provide opportunities and support to allow
our students to maximize their potential.
-
We regularly measure student achievement and
academic progress by focusing on student outcomes through curriculum
assessment, teacher and peer observations, standardized tests
and portfolio assessment.
-
The teachers, the administrator, and the support
staff participate in professional development designed to enhance
their subject content knowledge, strengthen their teaching skills
and build skills in shared decision - making.Knowing that resources
are limited, and the future of our children is at risk, we need
the support of the families, the community and the state. We need
to open the doors of ownership so that positive changes can take
place. With a unified effort, we are developing this school improvement
plan.
